With over 450 options, UCR has a vibrant community of student organizations, but we always encourage students to start their own groups and share their passions with other like-minded people.

Temporary Provision - Student Organization Misconduct Related to COVID-19 

Pursuant to Governor Newsom’s declaration of a State of Emergency for California on March, 4, 2020 (, and as provided for in the University of California Policies Applying to Campus Activities, Organizations and Students (PACAOS) 50.0 pertaining to campus emergencies (, the following temporary provision has been adopted. This provision is intended to apply only during the COVID-19 pandemic. This provision shall remain in effect until rescinded by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. 

For the purposes of this temporary provision only, a “Student Organization” means any organizations composed of UCR students (either undergrad or graduate) that are recognized by the campus via annual registration through the office of Student Life. 

Student Organizations may not organize any in-person meetings, events, or other gatherings, either on-campus or off-campus while COVID-19 safety precautions are in place. An in-person meeting (or gathering) is an assembly of two or more people, who do not reside in the same household. The use of social distancing and/or face coverings during a gathering or meeting, or holding the gathering or meeting in an outdoor location, does not make the meeting or gathering permissible. Student activities organized by Student Organizations may not be held in-person. Student Organizations and/or individual students may be referred to Student Conduct for violating this directive, per our Policy Compliance Form - Standards of Conduct (based on PACAOS 70.30).

This provision may be modified based on emerging guidance from local health authorities and campus directives, and will regularly be reviewed.
