Recruitment
Joining a fraternity or sorority is a lifelong commitment to fraternal values and leadership. IFC, Panhellenic, CMC, and NPHC fraternities and sororities select their members through a recruitment process referred to as “recruitment” or “intake”.
Collaborative Multicultural Council (CMC) Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for CMC chapters happens throughout the year. The process for each chapter is different, however each group hosts information sessions that any interested students can attend. Other activities held over the course of the quarter are to help educate and inform prospective members on the unique programs and opportunities that exist within those groups.
Panhellenic Sorority Recruitment Process
The recruitment process for Panhellenic sororities is formal and structured. Registration is required prior to the week of formal recruitment. Participants visit each chapter on the first day of formal recruitment and fewer chapters each day following until Bid Day. Recruitment is a mutual selection process between the potential new member and the chapter.

Interfraternity Council (IFC) Fraternity Recruitment Process
The Interfraternity Council conducts membership recruitment within the first three weeks of each quarter. Typically, there are a number of informational and social events that all chapters participate in to provide interested men the opportunity to meet active members from several fraternities. To participate in recruitment, students must have a cumulative college GPA of 2.25 or higher (individual chapters may have a higher GPA requirement to join).

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) Recruitment Process
The fraternity and sororities of the NPHC conduct membership intake at a time of a chapter’s choosing. The intake process differs from organization to organization. To learn more about UCR’s represented organizations, plan to attend various activities and programs sponsored by the NPHC and individual chapters that take place throughout the academic year.
