Veterans Resource Center
Take a break, study, or visit with friends in the Veterans Resource Center! Enjoy a hot beverage from the K-Cup coffee machine and relax in comfy chairs with footrests. Use the extra outlets to charge your phone and laptop. The Veterans Resource Center is located in Bannockburn H-108 and is open 7am-7pm M-Th and 7am-5pm on Fridays. There is free one hour parking in Bannockburn but if you're a full time student (undergrad or grad) and would like to be put on a waitlist for an actual parking spot there, sign up here.

UCR offers Priority Enrollment to all veterans and members of the military beginning with the second quarter of enrollment. This will happen automatically if you have visited Financial Aid to request U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits. Otherwise, please contact our office to discuss the documentation needed to initiate Priority Enrollment. Then, watch your student web mail for notification of your course enrollment date.
Exemption from Deferred Payment Plan Application Fee (and First Late Fee)
This plan allows you to pay your quarterly enrollment fees in three monthly installments. You can apply on Growl up to the fee payment deadline. For further information, visit Student Business Services. As a veteran or member of the military, you may be exempted from the $25 processing fee and the first late fee ($50). Waiver of the application fee and first late fee will happen automatically if you were certified for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits through Financial Aid. Operation VETS (Veteran, Employment, Transition, Success) is a career development program designed for UCR student veterans and service members of all majors and class levels. The program is free, and helps you to:
- Develop a strong resume, cover letter and CV. (Have it critiqued by professionals.)
- Understand how to translate military experience into civilian-friendly terms.
- Learn about the graduate and professional school application process.
- Participate in mock interviews and practice a 30-second pitch with employers and professionals.
- Learn how to master LinkedIn for job or internship searches.
- Connect with employers at networking events. (Previous site visits have included Disney College Program, NBC Universal and Target.)
- Create a mentoring relationship with employers and professionals.
- Access an abundance of veteran-friendly job search resources.
Operation VETS is a 9-12 session program that meets during the winter and spring quarters. Sessions are led by UCR Career Center Counselors, and feature professionals/employers from various industries. Workshops, group discussions, reflective exercises and cohort team-building activities are included.
Prompt and consistent attendance is required. You also have the flexibility of making a one-on-one career counseling appointment with program facilitators to review missed material.
Winter Quarter: Weeks 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 and 10

Upon successful completion, you will receive a Career Leadership Certificate and padfolio. Operation VETS is a no-credit program, and does not appear on college transcripts.
