There’s lots to do in Student Life.
So stop wondering and start having fun!
How to register a student org
It’s easy! Schedule a meeting by calling 951-827-7344. One of our Organization Advisors will walk you through the process of creating an organizational profile, compiling a membership roster, creating a constitution and signing up for a mandatory registration workshop.
That Student Life had a workroom
The Student Organization Workroom has mailboxes for student orgs, a consultation desk with student advisors who are happy to answer questions (either drop-in or by appointment), tables and chairs for small meetings, computers, banner paper and paints. The Workroom is located in 228 Commons.
That I could volunteer for Block Party
The annual UCR Block Party takes place on-campus on the first Friday evening of the fall quarter and includes bands, dance performances, interactive attractions and food. For more information about Block Party and to see how you can volunteer, visit the official Block Party site.
That I could be a SOAP volunteer
Sure you can! Just fill out a SOAP application and bring it to the Student Life office (229 Commons). Student Organization Advising Peers (SOAP) are volunteers in Student Life who provide assistance in using the online SOLAR system, registering student organizations, planning events, fundraising, and more. You’ll have your own desk, meet cool people and gain valuable leadership experience. Contact Adam Daniels at 951-827-7344 or e-mail him.
That they hire student staff
Become a member of our front desk service staff responsible for main office reception, appointment scheduling, flier approvals, banner and event sign-ups and assisting with other fun projects while working with Student Life office staff. For more information, stop by the Student Life office (229 Commons) or call 951-827-7344.
That I could be a Bear Facts counselor and get paid for it!
Bear Facts counselors will live in a UCR Residence Hall for part of the summer and assist with the set-up, registration and facilitation of orientation. Counselors will be paid by stipend and must have a quarterly and cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5. Contact Scott Silverman, Coordinator of Orientation Programs, at 951-827-3469 or scotts@ucr.edu
That there was something called Success Series for Freshman
The First Year Success Series (FYSS) includes workshops and seminars designed to guide you through all of the first-year chaos. Learn how to manage your time effectively, raise your grades and improve your health. Attend two or more workshops and you’ll receive a gift certificate for $20-$50 at the UCR Campus Store. Go to the First-Year official site or contact Melba Schneider Castro at 951-827-6254 or by e-mail.
That Student Life was so cool and
I could hang out there
Come on by Commons 229, say hi, shoot some hoops and take a picture with our cardboard cutout of Chancellor Timothy P. White.
That I could have done LeaderShape
Best of all, it’s free! LeaderShape is six days of nonstop self-discovery and learning to help you focus your goals and make you a more effective leader. It's go, go, go, 12 hours a day... And you'll love it! For more information, download a brochure, visit the official site or contact Ellen Whitehead at 951-827-3018 or by e-mail.
That I could get a transcript
for my leadership stuff
The Co-Curricular Transcript is an official record of leadership accomplishments and involvement in student organizations, community service activities and professional/educational development programs. It can be used to supplement resumes and academic transcripts when applying to graduate/professional schools and for prospective employers. Create, add entries to, or request a transcript!
