Honorary and Honor Societies

UCR has a wide variety of Honorary and Honor Societies. Each one is nationally recognized and every organization has a different focus, purpose and eligibility requirements. Below is the list of currently registered Honorary and Honor Societies at UCR. To learn more about each organization, visit SOLAR.

Alpha Lambda Delta  

The purpose of ALD is to: Encourage superior academic achievement among students in their first year in institutions of higher education, promote intelligent living, and a continued high standard of learning, assist women and men in recognizing and developing meaningful goals, and enrich our society by offering our knowledge and skills to those in need or desiring our help. 

Gamma Beta Phi

Gamma Beta Phi is a non-secret, nonprofit, scholastic, educational-service organization. This society recognizes and encourages excellence in education and promotes the development of leadership ability.  

Golden Key International Honour Society

The mission of Golden Key International Honour Society, a nonprofit academic honors organization, is to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in all undergraduate fields of study, to unite with faculty and administrators in developing and maintaining high standards of education, to provide economic assistance to outstanding members by means of both undergraduate and graduate scholarships, and to promote altruistic conduct through voluntary service. 

National Residence Halls Honorary

It aids the development and maintenance of a strong, diverse and academically successful residential community within the UCR Residence Halls.  

National Society of Collegiate Scholars

It celebrates high achievement among first and second year students in all academic disciplines.  

Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society

To recognize those who have attained a high standard of efficiency in collegiate activities and to inspire others to strive for similar attainments.  

Order of Omega (National Fraternity/ Sorority Honor Society)

It recognizes Greeks who have attained a high standard of leadership in inter-Greek activities and encourages them to continue along this line, and to inspire others to strive for similar success.

Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society)

To encourage the study of history and to recognize excellence in history. 

Psi Chi (Psychology Honor Society)

Psi Chi is a national honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.  

Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Society

It promotes, recognizes, and rewards academic achievement and provides members with opportunities for community service, personal development and lifelong professional fulfillment.  

Tau Beta Phi (National Engineering Honor Society)

It commends current and former students who have brought honor to their alma mater either by distinguished scholarship and exemplary character as students, or by their achievements as alumni.  

Tau Sigma National Honor Society (Transfer Student Honor Society)

It recognizes academic achievement of students transferring from another academic institution and encourages and promotes the student involvement.
