Welcome Week

Highlander Welcome celebrates the start of the new academic year by welcoming new and returning UCR students. It highlights some of the history and traditions of the University, most notably our adoption of Scottish traditions. Weeklong events include a convocation, massive picnic for all new students, hip-hop Block Party, Involvement Fair, noon concerts, giveaways and more.

Block Party

UCR’s annual Block Party takes place on the evening of the first Friday of the fall quarter. This festival includes a variety of bands, dance performances, interactive attractions, as well as student organization booths featuring prize games and delicious food.

Student Organizations must be currently registered with UCR to sign up for a booth, which is done on a first-come, first-served basis. A deposit is required, and all Environmental Health & Safety food preparation requirements must be followed. Student Life coordinates the Block Party. Cosponsors include the Associated Students Program Board, Associated Students of UCR, Bear Facts Orientation and Housing Services.

Homecoming

Our annual Homecoming celebration is held in February and Homecoming 2009 was bigger and better than ever before. Showing up and supporting UCR’s basketball teams at the Homecoming games is the best way to show your Highlander school spirit. It's an opportunity for all current Highlanders (students, staff, faculty) to engage with recent and not-so-recent alumni and the greater Riverside community. Come cheer! Come celebrate! Come home!
