What does SOAP do?

SOAP is a team of volunteers involved on campus who advise student organizations. Volunteers are trained by Student Life staff on the online SOLAR system and on information crucial to the success of student organizations.

Where do I volunteer at if I become a SOAP?

SOAP volunteers have an exclusive desk within the office of Student Life, different from the general Front Desk. The Consultation Desk is an area where SOAP volunteers have the chance to sit one-on-one with students while accessing the internet to offer friendly assistance with the SOLAR online system.

Why would I want to become a SOAP?

Volunteering with SOAP is a great opportunity to interact with students while building leadership skills. SOAP volunteers have the ability to serve other organization members by providing support and resources.

How much time do I have to commit to SOAP?

SOAP has a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week.

Who will I interact with as a SOAP?

Individuals have a chance to interact with a diverse array of student organizations. Even if a student does not come in for consulting, the SOAP volunteer is the first to meet and greet those who walk into the Student Life office. Volunteers work directly with the SOLAR professional staff in Student Life. This includes Thomas Dake, Ellen Whitehead, Joseph Martinez, and Carol Preston.

How do I become a SOAP volunteer?

Interested students are required to fill out an application and go through an interview process.
